Art therapists give guidance and teach new techniques to children to help them expand their creative thought process. By helping the children develop their skills, the art therapists also find out how children respond to different treatments.

Art as therapy with children strives to create a working environment and an accepting atmosphere in which the children can feel safe, comfortable and emotionally secure. Art therapists want the experience to be exploratory, to be unthreatening and, above all, fun.

From the first day that the child meets the facilitator, we set the stage for trust. Children are welcomed warmly and introduced to the other children. Our art therapists rarely ask children what they are doing, especially when they are given free expression activities to do, because this would make them switch to their logical mind and they become verbal rather than visual.
